We are four students that have came to our projects via different pathways, and we found that the more we talked to each other, the less we actually knew what was going on. We found that there was not a lot of resources from a student perspective about the bits outside of the science. So, basically we started a blog to complain about being PhD students, but made it ~different~

We wanted to have a space that allowed us to share, discuss and learn about the many aspects of a PhD that isn't apart of the scientific process. As we bumbled along, we found that interpersonal dynamics, expected knowledge and outside life had just as much impact to our experimental results as the experimental design. And yet, when we googled 'what to do when I haven't heard from my supervisor in six months but I need their signature', and sadly (but not surprisingly) nothing came back, we decided to start a blog.
So, over the next few weeks you'll meet the four PhD students that are maybe shouting into the void, but we hope to connect with other students, peers, post-docs, and maybe even supervisors, to share our own perspective and journey about all the 'other stuff' that is expected of you when you are becoming an independent researcher but isn't advertised as well.
